Characters:

-Don Vito Corleone-

Played by Marlon Brando, this character has been remembered throughout the ages and his raspy voice has become what people think of when they think of the italian mafia. Other people that play Don Vito at different ages include Robert DeNiro(Don Vito age 25) and Oreste Baldini (Don Vito age 10).

-Don Vito is accidentally poisoned by his granson Anthony in the garden of his house.

-Michael Corleone-

Played by Al Pacino, Michael is a true hero of the Corleone family. At the beggining of the movie, Michael is returning after being in The United States Marine Corps. He attends a wedding party with his girlfriend, Kay who will remain with Michael until The Godfather Part III. Despite his family, Michael doesn't want to be a part of the criminal part of his family, but is soon faced with no choice, and eventually works his way up to the rank of Don.

-Michael dies in the Godfather part III of a heart attack in his old age.

-Santino"Sonny" Corleone-

Sonny's violent temper and rash actions make him very unpopular amongst the other families in New York. When Don Vito is shot and in the hospital for a short time, Sonny takes over the family. While in power, Sonny makes many violent decisions that eventually lead up to his death.

-Sonny is gunned down by Tattaglila family hitmen while he is in his car at a toll boothe.

-Tom Hagen-

Adopted by Sonny when he was a boy, Tom is played by Robert Duvalle. Now, all grown up, Tom is the Corleone family's lawyer and a good one at that. He does not do anything criminal, and only takes care of the family when they need his services.

-Tom Hagen dies of natural causes at some point between The Godfather Part II and The Godfather Part III.

-Frederico "Fredo" Corleone-

Fredo is what one might consider to be a low life. He does not live up to his father or brothers leadership or honorable qualities. Fredo gets through life feeding off of his family's wealth and brother's success. Not only that, but he betrays his own brother (Michael) just to make money.

-Fredo is killed by associates of Michael in a fishing boat while reciting a Hail Mary after Michael finds out that Fredo betrayed the family by helping rival gangsters.

-Connie Corleone-

Connie marries a friend of Sonny's, and is greatly abused by him. She becomes pregnant, but by The Godfather Part II, Connie has abandoned her child and gone parading around the country with various different men. Connie soon comes to her senses in her old age in The Godfather Part III, but eventually ends up poisoning a man for her brother Michael.

-Anthony Corleone-

Anthony is Michael's son, and a very talented actor. Speaks fantastic Italian and makes his father very proud.

-Maria Corleone-

Maria is Michael's daughter and prodigy. She is extremely talented in business, and Michael only wishes that she was born a man so that she could become the next Don of the Corleone family. Maria is very smart and looks up to her father greatly. Also, she has a small romance with Vincent Corleone, her cousin.

-Maria is killed by a bullet that was meant for Michael.

-Vincent Corleone-

Vincent is the illegitamate son of Sonny Corleone. Just like his father, he has a violent nature and tends to shoot first and ask questions later. Vincent has a romance with his cousin, Maria. Also, Vincent saves Michael's life from assassination. Because of this, Michael takes Vincent under his wing and teaches him the family business. At the end of The Godfather Part III, Vincent becomes the Don of the Corleone family. Vincent is played by Andy Garcia.
