Characters:

-Henry Hill-

Henry is portrayed by Ray Litotta and is the main character/narrarator of Goodfellas. The film starts out with Henry as an eleven year old boy who works at a cabstand in the bronx that the mafia owns. Henry soon learns the tools of the trade and begins to participate in less than legal activities for his bosses. Henry makes more money than any other kid in his neighborhood and begins to make a name for himself. The film then cuts to when Henry is about 22, and he is just as succesful. He is working with his partners and best friends, Tommy DeVito, and Jimmy Conway. Henry eventually meets his wife, Karen and she begins to help Henry steal, murder, and sell drugs, especially cocaine. Henry cheats on Karen with numerous other women, and by the end of the movie, when Henry has a drug problem and a huge debt, he is forced to join the witness protection program or he will be killed.

-Jimmy Conway-

Robert DeNiro plays Jimmy Conway who takes Henry under his wing when Henry is a boy and Jimmy is in his twenties. Jimmy is one of the most feared men in New York, and he conducts his business with a ruthless and effective attitude. Jimmy gets what he wants....Period. Also, Jimmy is known to be incredible at stealing. "What Jimmy really loved was to steal, I mean he actually enjoyed it. Jimmy was the kind of guy who roots for the bad guys in the movies." -Henry Hill. Tward the end of the movie, Jimmy conducts the LaTanza heist, where he steals millions of dollars and gets away with it.

-Tommy DeVito-

Played by Joe Pesci, Tommy is Henry's best friend and partner. He hates to be disrespected, and makes up for his small stature by being a skilled fighter and killer. Tommy has a violent attitude, and doesn't take crap from anyone.

-Tommy is shot in the back of the head after he is made into a soldier for the mafia. It was revenge for the murder of a different made man(soldier) earlier in the movie.

-Karen Hill-

Karen meets Henry on a double date with Tommy and his girlfriend and is originally unimpressed. Henry doesn't pay any attention to her and seems to be just in it to help his friend. After Henry says he will take Karen on a second date, and stands her up, she tracks him down and screams at him on the sidewalk in front of his friends. Henry instantly falls in love with her at that moment. "I remember her standing there screaming at me, I mean screaming loud, and she looked good..." Karen and Henry get married, and Karen eventually ends up with a cocaine addiction and enters the witness protection program with Henry. However, they split up several years later.

-Paulie Cicero-

Paulie is the head of the Cicero crime family. He owns the cabstand that Henry first met his future mafia mentors. Paulie is said to move slow, but that is because, "Paulie didn't have to move fast for anyone." Also, Paulie hates phones, and won't have one in his house. Paulie conducts his crime family very respectfully, not getting involved with drugs, and always keeping his side of the bargain.
